Seattle International Fountain - Ukiyo-e Style

Seattle International Fountain - Ukiyo-e Style

from $19.95

This is my first digital Ukiyo-e style drawing. Ukiyo-e is an old form of Japanese art from the 17th to 19th century. Ukiyo-e translates to English as "pictures of the floating world" and typically depicts aspects of everyday life. Having lived in Seattle my whole life this is a view that holds a lot of memories for me– From spending many years at Bumbershoot, Folklife Festival, hanging out with friends, or just stopping by for a little while on my way to trivia night.

In Japanese culture cherry blossoms represent the beauty of life and its fragility. Much like the short life of the cherry blossom, Seattle's perfect sunny days of the non-rain season don't last nearly long enough.

Every print is signed and comes with deckled edges with an option to buy it float mounted onto black matboard with a gray mat border. The mat options come expertly assembled and ready to place into a frame. These mats have custom sized cut openings to accommodate the aspect ratio of the art. While these prints will also look good float mounted without the additional mat border, the border also acts as a spacer between the art and glass which is important for preserving the print.

The included matboard is Crescent Select Alpha-Cellulose matboard which meets the minimum conservation level requirements so they will protect the art for look great for a very long time. No yellowing cores and acid marks here!
